Investment continues at Padiham Leisure Centre

Padiham Leisure Centre is to benefit from further investment into improving the facilities.

Just weeks after receiving brand new fitness equipment, the popular leisure centre on Park Road has got the go-ahead to refurbish the entire swimming pool area.

The scheme, which will involve re-tiling the whole pool hall as well as renewing parts of the pool itself, means that the pool will need to be drained to allow the specialist work to take place.

Paul Foster, Area Facilities Manager for Burnley Council’s Leisure and Recreation Services said “ We are delighted to announce that we are now in a position to completely refurbish the pool hall. The scheme to repair and upgrade the pool hall is an essential part of our long term improvement plan for Padiham Leisure Centre......Unfortunately, as with any major refurbishment programme, there will be disruption to our normal programme.

The centre will need to be closed for a few days while the work in the changing rooms is completed, and immediately following that the pool will need to remain closed for a few weeks for the extensive work to take place there. There is never a ‘good’ time to close facilities for improvement work, and we do apologise for the inconvenience, however, I am sure that our customers will agree that improvements to the pool hall are worthwhile and essential for the long term development of the centre”.

To allow the work to take place the centre will be closed to the public from Sunday 22nd July until Sunday 29th July inclusive. The centre will then re-open on Monday 30th July for dry-side activities and the sauna facilities, but the pool will stay closed for a further three weeks for the pool hall work to be completed.
